According to the Australian Greenhouse Office, passenger cars alone account for around 8% of Australia’s total greenhouse gas emissions.
One of our key challenges is to harness the enormous benefits of cars, while at the same time reducing the negative impact caused by motoring.
RAC, along with motoring clubs across Australia, are committed to helping motorists make positive steps towards reducing the impact of car emissions.
Last year an Australian Automobile Association national survey found that 79% of motorists are concerned about the impact of motor vehicles on our environment.
As part of our commitment to address our members concerns, RAC is taking part in a national climate change summit titled
On the Road to Greener Motoring.
It’s being held in Canberra on 3 June and will feature guest speakers from across the motoring industry, including RAC Chief Executive Officer Terry Agnew. The summit will set an agenda for future strategies that will help us all tackle climate change through greener motoring.
